Tuscan Town Trotter: Part 3
We are quickly coming to the end of our Italian adventures, amici. So in order to get in the most Tuscany in the shortest amount of time, we have been hopping on weekend trains to neighboring towns. These quick little day trips will be documented as part of the short Tuscan Town Trotter series. Enjoy!
If it sounded like some of the other small towns we've been to were quiet and sleepy, Montepulciano is even slower and more laid back! We went there for a quick adventure and felt like we needed a nap as soon as we walked through the porta (port, or gate into the walled city).
We weren't tired or anything, but that seemed to be what the Montepulciano people liked to do on their Saturdays. Actually, it was kind of nice being able to walk around at our own pace and not feel rushed by waves of tourists and locals going about their busy, bustling daily activities.
Even the cats were taking it easy...who am I kidding? Napping is what cats do best!
The bell ringer was still working today; reminding everyone of the slowly passing hours.
We had to give in after a while and just have a sit overlooking the countryside. With a view like this, can you blame us?
Aaah, how nice! One more shot with me by the fountain and then I'm really going to take a nap!
